NHS Treatments

There are four standard charges for all NHS dental treatments:

You may be entitled to exemption from dental charges. Please see the NHS Choices website for details or pick up a leaflet at the practice. If you are exempt from NHS charges, you will need to bring documentary proof of the exemption. If no proof of your eligibility is shown, you may be checked by the Dental Services Executive.

Band 1
course of treatment £26.80

This covers an examination, diagnosis (including x-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if needed, and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant if appropriate.

Band 2 course of treatment £73.50

This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or removal of teeth.

Band 3 course of treatment £319.10

This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2, plus crowns, dentures and bridges.

Band 4 emergency treatment £26.80

If you require urgent care you will pay the same as a Band 1 treatment. You will then be required to return for whatever treatment will be necessary to secure and maintain oral health.
